Hey everyone! How was your week? Alike most of the time, my week was pretty much filled with dance, school and revision but of course enjoying time out with some friends too. Today I thought that I would reveal some of the hidden truths about blogging (dum, duuum, duuuuuuuuumm)! I feel like there is so much to say but I’ve just limited it down to a vital few for you all. So I’m going to quit rambling and jump straight into the Expectations vs Reality of blogging.
SUPER AESTHETIC BEDROOM // HOME
EXPECTATION: Marble top counters, super tidy and with white and copper accents.
REALITY: The photos above are real-time photos of my room before this post uploaded. The reality. Yes my room can be tidy and yes it does have copper accents but my room is not a constant aesthetic, it’s lived in and does not stay pristine all day. I have school books laying around and paints all over the place most of the time (hahaha!)
ORGANISATION || PRE-WRITING POSTS
EXPECTATION: Having posts pre-written weeks in advance and keeping a track in a journal every single week.
REALITY: Using a journal once every now and then and writing posts a day or two before upload dates. – I mean used to be able to pre-write posts all the time but now it just gets a bit much to able to do that. Writing just the one post requires so much time and effort in itself.
FLATLAYS VS THE REAL THING
EXPECTATIONS: The perfect background with each product perfectly spaced out and arranged on the surface.
REALITY: Trying endlessly to get each product into the right position and creating a mess as we do so. – It takes absolutely ages to get that perfect flatlay shot, having over 20 shots of the same flatlay with the tiniest adjustments to try and get the perfect one.
EXPECTATIONS: Professional studio lighting, sunny 24/7
REALITY: Having to use your beside lamp to act as best as possible as a make shift studio light while it’s pouring down with rain outside – turning up exposure on your camera to achieve a good white balance.
EXPECTATIONS: Getting consistent views and comments all the time and promoting across all social medias.
REALITY: Trying to find the right time to promote on social platforms – having good days and bad days for exposure and interaction. Really though, it’s a hard time trying to get your blog out there and I don’t think how long you’ve been blogging changes how easy it gets.
EXPECTATIONS: Behind the screen, you may imagine someone typing at their desk in a full outfit, hair & makeup done.
REALITY: As I write this, I’m in my bed with jogging bottoms on and a hoodie. Yes, sometimes I am in some ripped jeans and a nice top for example, but it’s mainly by chance as I’m normally in pajamas or something like that (hehe!).
Viola! So now you know about all those hidden parts of blogging that you may have never known. I love blogging so much and I really don’t know what I would do without it, but it’s not always as ‘plain sailing’ and as straightforward as some people may see it. There are so many different aspects to blogging and I feel like those parts can be so easily over-looked. It can be hard but I think it’s definitely worth it for the enjoyment and happiness I get out of it and talking with other lovely bloggers. Anyways, hopefully you enjoyed reading this style of post and let me know if it’s something that you’d like to see more often around here! I’ll see you back over here at the earlier time of Friday, since there is a little surprise coming your way…
P.S: I don’t know why, but this was one of my favourite posts to photograph! It was super fun to write too. It’s a little bit different to what I normally post here, but I hop you enjoyed reading nevertheless. Byesies! Xxxx
