Helloooo! How are you all getting on? A few weeks ago I took the plunge into purchasing my first ever MAC lipstick (Ahhhhhh!). I do already have one MAC lipstick that was kindly gifted to me and you can see my full review on that here but the lipstick I'm going to show you today is one that I bought myself whilst I was out in Brighton. There was honestly so much choice at the lipstick counter, I just didn't know where to start! I intended to buy the shade 'Film Noir' but then I ended up falling in love with the shade 'Polished Up' and that was it, I just couldn't resist! So I'm going to be giving you a full review on the MAC lipstick in the shade 'Polished Up' as well as what my first impressions were. Right, let me stop with the rambles and just hop right into the review!
So when I first looked at the lipstick I imagined it to be the perfect kinda nude every day shade. It looked very glossy and shiny when I first observed it, but it still retained a strong colour giving me the impression the the opacity and colour pay off way going to be pretty good! Giving the fact that the lipstick appeared to look very shiny, I thought that the formula may be too creamy and may not be able to stay in place all day without slipping and sliding around. Though I did think that the lipstick would be very moisturizing and have an overall good feeling on the lips.
I mean MAC packaging really does speak for it self! It's so simple yet so illustrious. The product was packed well, no scuffs or tears on the box and the lipstick was well in tact. I love the typical 'bullet' tip shape of the lipstick and the products outer tube additionally remained in great condition. Overall, I am very pleased with the packaging of the product; it's simple with the whole monochrome colouring going on and in perfect condition.
MAC describes this lipstick as a "Midtone rosey nude " and I think that this statement best sums up the lipstick. It is literally, in my opinion, the most gorgeous nude everyday shade and it's not a really light or really dark nude which means that I think it would look awesome on all skin tones. The colour I feel is like a dark dusty pink shade with brown undertones but still remains to be subtle and rather natural. It's a lovely colour for casual wear and would look gorgeous with a variety of makeup looks. The lipstick is very opaque but I found that I was able to still apply a thin layer to make it more sheer. Like I said in my First Impression, the colour is quite lustrous meaning that when applied on the lips, the lipstick left a really pretty sheen on the lips on top of the rosey nude colour.
APPLICATION & FINISH
Polished Up is described by MAC to be a 'Lustre' finish, meaning that after the application there should be a certain shine or glow on the lips. The formula was incredibly creamy and soft on the lips. The product didn't cling on or tug at the skin on my lips, but instead, adhered to my lips and didn't sink into any creases. It was a smooth application as the lipstick succeeded to apply onto my lips with ease. It was able to last for the whole day pretty much, I only had to re-apply the product once throughout the day and I was overall really really happy with the way how the lipstick applied, the finish and how long it did in fact last.
So I hope you guys enjoyed reading up on my thoughts and first impressions today! Let me know what your favourite MAC lipstick is or which ones are on your wishlist. Thank you all so so much for reading and I will speak to you all next week!
