Hi there! As you can see things are a little different around here. New blog address and new designs to come too but while the construction of this site goes on, I will still be posting as normal. So for todays post I have a little review on my first ever MAC lipstick! I can’t even believe that I said that! I’ve wanted a MAC lipstick for sooooo long but have never bought myself to actually purchase one, but at Christmas one of my school friendlings bought me one! AHHHH! I’m not even joking I sat there for a minute just stroking the box because I was so happy and I cannot thank her enough… just WOW! It has literally just been in my room on display because I have been too scared to use it as it’s just so precious!, but I had to bring myself to swatch it for you all to see. (Teehee!)
This is in the shade SIN ( Retro Matte Lipstick ) which is like a sheer, frosted berry colour with what I think are voluptuous dark plums and fuchsia tones, deepened with tints of nude brown and purple undertones. It would make the perfect Autumnal or Winter berry lip in my opinion, but I think I would wear it all year around really because it’s so gorgeous! This moody berry lipstick would be absolutely perfect for those cold Wintery months. It glides on effortlessly providing that a lip balm is applied prior to the application, if not then the lipstick tugs a little at the lips. Despite the fact that this lipstick is matte, it still demonstrated moisturising qualities which I was really happy about because in most lipsticks, especially matte ones, I tend to find the formula to be quite drying on the lips, however, this Mac lipstick was quite a lot better than other mattes I have tried in the past.
It stayed on all day with maybe only having to touch up once or twice. The opacity of the lipstick is very buildable which I think is essential in a lipstick, as it makes the product much more versatile with the ways in which it can be worn. It transfers ever so slightly on to cups/mugs, but a faint colour transfer is quite common in most lipsticks so it was to be expected really. I feel as though this colour would suit all skin tones and paired with a simplistic eye shadow look or even just a smidge of eyeliner, I personally think that we could all rock this dark lip!
Finally, the overall finish. Since this is a matte lipstick the general finish will be matte. Although, I did find that once the lipstick settles on the lip, it has a beautiful subtle a sheer glow making it not seem as overly matte. It sits on the lips well without slipping or sliding out of place. ‘SIN’ exceeded all my expectations and I would definitely recommend this lipstick to those who want to try something new. Whether you are more into neutrals or dark lips are your go to, I think that ‘SIN’ would be a great investment for a unique and bold look. I hope to pull myself together one day and purchase my own MAC lipstick … I do have my eye on ‘FILM NOIR’!
P.S: When I first received the MAC lipstick, I looked at the bottom to see what the shade was called and I said “OMG I got a MAC lipstick in the shade NIS!” Little did I know, that I read the name upside down….. (Hahahahahahahahahaha!) Byesies!
