Heya! So as you all know, I do love me a little bit of makeup and the other day I decided to take the plunge a purchase a product a had my eye on for quite a while! I had heard a fair bit about the NARS eye shadow duo's and Scorching Sun seemed like the perfect balance of warm oranges and golden shimmers so it was the one that I went for. Now I'm not really the type of girl who likes to spend heaps of money on high end makeup, but I do have a little soft spot for warm golden shades so I couldn't resist! If you didn't already know, TKMAXX sell tons of new high end makeup for a fraction of the initial full price so I would definitely advise you having a snoop around their counters as it's where I discovered this beauty! This is the first NARS product that I have ever purchased, so I thought I would share with you how I got along with it!
The packaging is the standard NARS design; black and white, very clean, sophisticated and sleek. I love the packaging design, inside and out, as personally feel that it is very modern and incredibly elegant. Inside, there is a large mirror which in my opinion is a necessity really and I think that NARS has sized the mirror appropriately for the duo. It is very visually appealing, definitely something that you could allow to sit prettily on your vanity. The duo is rather pocket size so it is really easy jus to chuck in you bag when your on the go.
In this duo there is a matte orange colour and a darker shimmery bronzed orange colour. Both colours have great pigmentation but I feel as though the glittery shade is slightly more pigmented than the matte apricot shade, which is slightly more sheer. The matte eye shadow, (left) has more of a yellowish undertone which I find has to layered quite a bit before I achieve my desired opacity. Whereas the shimmer shade, (right) which has golden undertones, does not have to be built up quite so much. The colours are very buildable and can maintain a good opacity on the lid throughout the whole day. These dazzling colours coordinate beautifully with each other and overall have an amazing level of pigmentation.
The eye shadows from the Scorching Sun duo are smooth in texture and not chalky at all. They glide across the lid beautifully and have a slightly soft feeling when applying. Although these eye shadows are powder in a powder formulation, they still have a creamy, velvety type texture which I really like. They feel rather luxurious and don't crease on the lid or have any fallouts. Due to their 'soft' texture, these shadows, they are incredibly blendable and are very lightweight. I was really happy with the texture of these shadows and I wouldn't expect anything les from NARS! This lightweight, soft and velvety texture is a winner in my eyes!
So that was my quick review on the NARS Eye Shadow Duo in 'Scorched Sun'. The Duo Eye shadow range retails for £25.00 each, but as far as I know the shade that I have has been discontinued by NARS. I would definitely repurchase another one of these duo eye shadows when I am next feeling brave, as they are fantastic quality but a little on the pricy side for me! I hope you liked this high end makeup review and I shall speak to you all again next week!
P.S: Mother's day is fast approaching and I still have no idea what to get for my mum, I was thinking maybe a nice breakfast in bed or a little spa for her! Not sure though. Have any of you guys ever tried out any NARS products? Byesies! Xxxx
