THE BEST PLAYLISTS AND SONGS FOR REVISION

October 15, 2017

Hey guys! I’ve just had my assessment week at school and it was awful. Literally a test for every single subject which meant that I had a ton of revision to do every night. The worst part is, is that a couple of my assessments run into next week as well so I still have a test for the core practicals in Physics, Chem and Bio. There are so many ways to revise and layout options ect. I kinda have different ways to revise for different subjects like a love a good handmade booklet for the sciences. When I’m doing revision I like to put some music or some playlists on Spotify. I know that’s quite controversial but if you are like me then I have some songs to recommend for those revision nights.

Something that I’m really strict with though is to not play songs or playlists that I’ll necessarily know the words to. If I do then I know I will get distracted and probably start dancing in my chair and forget the work! I find that instrumentals to songs work really well.

My music taste is quite chill, like I really like songs that have a nice baseline and a kinda chill vibe about them. Idk, it’s hard to explain really (haha!). So I find the Mellow Beats playlist on Spotify PERFECT! It’s like a fusion of like chilled hip-hop instrumentals and slow mellow beats i guess! The majority of these songs are instrumentals which is perfect for me. A really good song from the playlist is called Perverted Undertone – Prefuse 73. Please ignore the name I know it’s quite unusual but I find this to be my go-to revision song.

Playlists

  • Mellow Beats
  • The playlists under ‘Focus’ in Genre & Mood
  • Chill.Out.Brain

Go-To Songs

  • Perverted Undertone – Perfuse 73
  • Flowers – The Deli
  • La Cienega – Mad Chronic
  • Knives n Cherries – Minthaze
  • Vibe – Melvv
  • Yours – SG Lewis
  • East Coast Hiding – Dounia
  • Nobody Else – Eli Sostre
  • Sky Walker – Miguel
  • See You Again – Tyler The Creator

I know that we may not have the same music taste but I thought that this would be a nice lil post to share. There are so many options on Spotify for different genres and moods (this is sponsored btw I just genuinely love Spotify haha!). I hope that you enjoyed this post and might even pop on one of these recommended songs the next time you revise. Do you like to listen to music when you revise, if so what do you listen to?

P.S: I finish school soon, I just have this week left and I can’t wait for the time off. It’s only a week though, when is your half-term? Byesies! Xxxxx

Have you seen...

Ohhhh interesting! If I ever listen to music whilst revising it’s usually classical music or sometimes I like to listen to mindfulness apps to get me in the zone. I haven’t heard many of these songs so will defo give them a listen! x

I love seeing other people’s revision playlists! Mine is so different to most though! I listen to a lot of classical music when I’m revising!
I haven’t heard of any of these songs though, so I may give it a whirl!

Really interesting to see other peoples revision playlists! I agree that instrumentals work best, I like to listen to The Reading Playlist on Spotifiy when I’m revising or writing essays! I havn’t listened to many of your go to songs but will have to check them out!

I always used to find that I got distracted when I listened to songs I knew the words to as well, I used to really enjoy listening to film scores while I revised or wrote essays because it’s just the right amount of background noise without distracting you. Good luck with the rest of your tests next week!

Thank you and that’s such a good idea, I never thought about listening to films in the background, you’re right it’s a good level of noise. I’ll give that a try for my next revision session after school!

That’s such a good idea listening to instrumental versions of songs you like instead of the original! I totally agree I’d get too distracted if I knew the words and I’d end up singing along. Good luck with exams xx

When I was at uni, I had a revision playlist too! Now I have a reading and a commuting playlist. Shame on me, I haven’t listened to (or heard of) any of these songs! xx corinne
