Hey guys! Now by the title you may be able to gage an idea of what I’m sharing with you today. The idea sprung to mind from when I was actually in my maths class and one of my friends asked me how much do I think my makeup collection would cost overall. It really got me thinking how much it would all tot up to be. I mean in my time I’ve bought quite a fair amount of makeup however, some of it was kindly gifted at through things like birthdays and Christmas. On the weekend I researched all the prices for my makeup and was so surprised at the outcome. I thought that it would be something really interesting to share with you about how much my makeup collection costs, possibly revealing some of the harsh realities of makeup itself.
*Little side note: This is not me bragging or boasting in any way, shape or form and I am so so so grateful for the amount of makeup that I have. I am solely writing this post to share my thoughts about the costs of makeup*
I cleared out my makeup drawer and begun sorting it into sections. From there I wrote down each product so I could search their prices on google. It took a while but I think that the results are really interesting.
Foundations & BB creams = £20.98
Powders = £2.99
Bronzers & Highlighters = £57.49
Concealer = £4.99
Eyebrows = £8.50
Eyeliner = £115.21 (tbh I wasn’t too surprised at this one since I love my eyeliners!)
Single Shadows = £9.70
Palettes = £59.98
Lipsticks = £97.95
GRAND TOTAL (*drum-roll please*)
I’ve of course gone through phases with makeup. There was a stage when I would shop almost every weekend and spend hours in the shop with my friend, searching for a new makeup item to buy. I think it never really hits home how much money we spend on things that are quite materialistic like makeup, until we actually total up our spendings. In the spur of the moment £20 doesn’t seem that much. Whether it’s for a few items or maybe even just one high end product. But that keeps building up to an even larger amount over time. I think now seeing the figures in bold, right in front of me makes me want to really make the effort to change up the products that I use on the daily and be more selective ad careful when buying more products.
Makeup is something that I love doing and experimenting with (there may be a cheeky lil makeup tutorial next week hehe!). It’s made me feel confident and given me another way to express myself. I do believe though, that doing this little makeup collection cost, does make me more aware and even more grateful for what I have. It really opened my eyes to how much makeup can cost and how I can get lost in the excitement before coming to a realization of how much I’m spending. I really hope that you enjoyed reading this post and was something a little bit different to something you’ve seen before. Remember there is only 16 days left to enter my giveaway!
P.S: How much do you think your collection would cost? Let me know in the comments below. Byesies! Xxxx
