Hey! I have literally had the most busy week. Every day has been filled with homework, projects, essays, revision or an after school club! Coming back to my blog to talk you guys has been one of the only escapes I’ve had from all the heaps of school work. I feel like as soon as we hit those “terrible teenager” years, we kinda start worrying more about appearance and commonly aim to have that idea of having the ‘perfect’ complexion or ‘perfect’ skin. But then there is the realisation that it’s not possible to simply click your fingers and *poof* have clear skin, but actually have to maintain a healthy diet, drink water etc. as well as establishing the right skincare products that work for you and your skin type. I’ve been experimenting with a few skincare products and these are the products that best work for me (so far, fingers crossed!) and I’ve kinda composed a little skincare routine of what I’ve been using on my face in an attempt to maintain healthy skin.
Just as a little disclaimer, I know there will be a lot of products mentioned in this post, but just to put it out there I don’t use these all at once. I kinda switch up my daily skincare using different product combinations and not just piling a ton of products on my face at a time. Anyways, I usually kick-start my skincare routine with the removal of any makeup that I wore that day and often reach for my Micellar water. I know everyone says it, but the Garnier Micellar Water is one of (if not the best) dupe for Bioderma! I have tried some of my mum’s Bioderma before and I can honestly say it, the Garnier drugstore version does just as good of a job!
Next I go in with a quick face wash. My absolute favourite brand for face washes at the moment is ‘Tea Tree” by Superdrug and also the ‘Tea Tree” range from The Body Shop. There is just something so revitalising about their products and the minty smell is so refreshing. I love the fact that the ‘Foaming Facial Wash’ almost sinks into your skin to really lift out all of the dirt in your pores and because it’s foam, it kinda tickles a little bit when it’s on my face which is quite fun! Occasionally I will go in with a light exfoliator, again by “Tea Tree” and work that into my skin. The natural Walnut shell granules gently exfoliate my skin to leave it feeling soft afterwards and the peppermint oil is a great source of hydration. As for toner, I use the “Simple” soothing facial toner, but I only tend to tone my skin once a week.
Now on to Moisturizers! Recently I have discovered so many new moisturizers that I slowly falling in love with but one that has never changed is my trusty Garnier Moisture Nourish +. I love the texture of moisturizer and how it so effortlessly glides across my face and how my skin absorbs the product so well. It’s not greasy at all and not to thick or heavy like some other face creams. The other moisturizers that I love to use as an alternate to the Garnier one are the Dr.Organic Bioactive Skincare ‘Snail Gel Cream’ and the ‘Virgin Coconut Oil Night Cream’. I know they sound crazy but trust me, they are incredible! I got these little free samples at ‘Holland and Barrett’ a while ago and have been considering getting the full size. As weird as it sounds, I adore the Snail Gel Cream because it has such a lovely gel formula which is so smooth and restores my skins elasticity and it’s completely organic with a bunch of great proteins for the skin leaving my face feeling ‘as soft as a baby’s bottom’! (Tehehe!)
Last off for my skin I go in with a lip balm or lip butter just to give my lips that love, attention and hydration that my skin got. I don’t have a specific lip butter that I necessarily repeatedly use because I literally have so many lip balms that I just end up chucking any old one on my lips, just so long as my lips are moisturized then it’s all good.
For my arms and legs I use the Soap and Glory “The Righteous Butter” as it’s super hydrating and after leaves the skin with a healthy glow. I also have quite dry skin, so this has definitely been a saviour to my skin, especially in the colder months. Then last of all for my hands, I just rub in some of my “I love…Raspberry & Blackberry” hand cream to get my hands to feel silky soft. So that was my in depth skincare routine and I hope you enjoyed reading! I guess I will speak to you again next week!
P.S: Don’t ever feel as if you have to do certain things or follow a specific regime in order to have good skin, just do you! What ever floats your boat in order for you to feel happy and confident in yourself is all that matters. I know this post was super long but thank you so much for reading anyways! What skin type do you have? Byesies! Xxxx
