August 13, 2017

Hey guys! How are you doing? Today I have quite an exciting post lined up for you as it is a guest post from the lovely Brigitte who lives all the way in Australia! Now you guys know how much I love Australia so this is so so exciting. I never normally do guest posts on my blog, however Brigitte and I got along so well that it seemed like a really good idea to both guest post on each others blogs! She writes over at https://highstylife.com/ so be sure to check out her work there and head over here if you want to read the article that I wrote for her site. Since it’s Summer here in London Brigitte is bringing you guys a Summer Skincare Routine, so continue scrolling to hear from the wonderful Brigitte!

Summer Skincare Edition

I would like to preface this article by saying that I am very grateful to Olivia for this collaboration between our two blogs, as her space is one of my favorite on the web.

When summer comes back into town we welcome it with open arms and throw it what I like to call a cleansing party. You know as well as I do what that entails: breezy summer tops, crochet bikinis and sundresses drive up to your closet and you welcome them in style by removing and storing away your winter clothes for the time being. Just like sweaters don’t work for your body during summer, heavy moisturizers and other winter products don’t exactly work for your precious face. That’s exactly why your makeup table, like your closet, is in dire need of a makeover, and luckily, I’ve got tons of experience in that department, so let’s dive in and bring new products into your life, summertime style.

Cleanse it good

The one mistake we make once summer’s back in town is that we start acting nonchalant, and while that’s good in life, it’ bad in skincare. Yes, heavier and oilier cleansers should be put on hold, but that doesn’t mean you should put your entire cleansing ritual on hold too. Instead, switch things up to suit the season. I take cleanliness very seriously, and put picking a great cleanser on the top of my list. After a few hits and misses, I finally found the perfect one, and it goes by the name Pure Plush by Bare Minerals. The main reason I have so much love for this product is because it helps me get rid of that extra oiliness that creeps up during this season, but doesn’t irritate my skin. Although the texture is gentle and kind of like a marshmallow, it does an amazing job, plus it smells incredible and you simply have to love that.

Rock The Beaches with Small Preparations

As you’re probably well aware, we Aussie gals love our fun in the sun. Summer is our season and when it arrives, we take full advantage and go to feel the soft sand and the water as often as we can. However, we’re also aware that, in order to get your body into top-notch shape for the swimsuit season, attention must be paid. I personally adore the Suki Exfoliate Foaming Body Cleanser. Unlike harsh exfoliators that hurt my sensitive skin, the texture of this product allows for gentle exfoliation that leaves my body smooth, silky and free of dead cells. Now, I have to admit, I detest stretch marks and body acne, they make me cringe. That’s why I always turn to a Sydney laser clinic when I want to say goodbye and good riddance to these pesky visitors. The treatments are non-invasive, and they make my skin so fresh, cleared and rejuvenated; so before every bikini season, this is my go-to place.

It’s never too early…

…to start using night cream. I’m a firm believer in night creams, and although labels state they’re for ‘mature skin’, I think it’s better to be safe than sorry, so I started my anti-aging battle before signs even appeared. Now, a great number of these creams are quite heavy and greasy, so I found my summer nighttime protection in the perfectly balanced Lierac Magnificence Serum Rouge Anti-Aging. It’s light, but locks in moisture and while I get my beauty sleep, this little magic in a bottle is working overtime to get me that luminous, smooth skin. I can’t stress my love for this product enough.

Three letters, huge protection

Not to play the Aussie card again, but I’m going to – SPF is so important, you can’t even imagine. We love our fun in the sun, but those UV rays are ruthless and unforgiving, so you have to be prepared. Of course, when you’re showing skin at the beach, you’ll definitely slather a generous amount of SPF, but never underestimate the power of a good SPF moisturizer for everyday use. My personal pick is definitely La Roche Posay Anthelios XL 50+. We’ve been taught never to settle for anything less than SPF 30, so I added the extra 20 just to err on the side of safety. Unlike others, this one is surprisingly light and non-sticky, which makes it perfect for that scorching hot weather when you feel your skin is melting.

Bare it all

The one thing I pay little attention to during this season is makeup. This is the season during which I give my skin the break it deserves. When I do need to apply a little something for evening outings, I turn to my faithful La Roche-Posay Effaclar BB Blur, because it’s non-oily and paraben-free, and gives me that perfect smooth skin, plus it’s strong enough to fight the occasional blemish or two.

Thank you so much to Brigitte for featuring on my blog today, it was an honor. I really hope you guys enjoyed reading today and I shall speak to you all next week!
